Why most spiritual entrepreneurs (not so) secretly hate planning 🤫
I ask clients if they have a plan for their business. The response usually sounds something like this:
“Uhhh… you mean what I want to do? Sure. I’m creating a course, thinking about speaking, growing my list, and I’ve got some 1:1 clients.”
No, a plan.
Do you know when you’re going to do those things?
“Oh! Sure. I’m growing my list now and watching for speaking gigs to come up. I’m creating the course… well, actually, I’m working on three. And I have ideas for another three or four.”
So I ask a few more questions.
How are you growing your list?
What are you watching for when it comes to speaking opportunities?
Are you making progress on the three courses?
And what’s happening with the other three or four?
That’s usually when the conversation starts to unravel.
Because when I dig for an actual plan- a clear, step-by-step path for turning those ideas into reality- I hear a lot of reasons why planning just doesn’t work.
Maybe some of these sound familiar:
• Creative people can’t stick to a plan.
• Spiritual or intuitive people can’t follow a plan.
• Planning takes too much time.
• Even if you make a plan, you forget to look at it.
• Your mentor / aunt / favorite business guru didn’t plan, and things worked out fine for them.
• Or the opposite- someone you know spent all their time planning and never actually did anything.
• If you have a plan, you have to stick to it… and that feels suffocating.
For a lot of spiritual entrepreneurs, planning feels like trying to trap intuition inside a spreadsheet.
So instead, you may operate in what I call “spaghetti mode.”
You throw ideas out into the universe and hope something sticks.
But there’s a problem.
Spaghetti only sticks if there’s a wall.
Without structure, intuition has nothing to land on. And that creates a strange tension.
You don’t want a rigid, static plan that kills your flow.
But “flying by the seat of your pants” doesn’t feel great either.
So you end up in this uncomfortable middle place-
with big visions, lots of ideas, and no clear path for bringing them into the world.
Part of the reason this happens goes deeper than business.
For generations, women were taught to stay inside the box.
Step outside the lines and you might be called difficult… irrational… or worse. 🧙🏻
And if you came through the corporate world, planning probably meant something else entirely: rigid timelines, immovable deadlines, and endless approval processes just to move a date on a project plan.
I know that world well. I spent years as a project manager in a Fortune 100 technology company negotiating timeline changes like they were international peace treaties.
But here’s what I’ve learned since becoming a spiritual business owner:
If you want your vision to exist in the world, some things have to happen in the physical world.
There are real, practical actions that bring ideas into form.
The good news?
Your intuition and those practical actions don’t have to fight each other.
In fact, they work beautifully together when they’re structured the right way.
You need something that honors the creative, intuitive flow of the spiritual goddess while still moving you toward real outcomes.
That’s why I created Flow Planning™.
It’s a way of planning that gives you:
• the freedom to follow intuition,
• the flexibility to move with your energy,
• and enough structure to actually get things done.
So your ideas stop floating around in the ether… and start becoming real.
Now, if you’re feeling a little defensive right now- or your brain is already coming up with reasons why planning won’t work for you- that’s completely normal.
You’ve probably had years of experience that made planning feel frustrating, restrictive, or pointless.
So for now, I want you to do just one thing.
Give yourself a break.
You’re not bad at planning. You’ve just been taught the wrong kind of planning.
In the next email, we’re going to start fixing that. Because the biggest shift doesn’t happen in your calendar.
It happens in your mindset.
And once that shift happens, planning becomes one of the most powerful tools you have for bringing your vision into reality.
Over the next three weeks, I’ll be sending a few more emails than usual.
We’ll unpack the real reason spiritual women resist planning, release the baggage around it, and then I’ll show you the simple Flow Planning™ formula you can use to create a plan that actually works with your intuition instead of against it.
And it’s probably not what you think.
P.S. I’m sharing information about Flow Planning™ in the New Era Fest Summit March 24 – 30. I’m speaking on March 30. There are a lot of great speakers coming before me. All you have to do is join the New Era Fest Facebook group. You get free access to all of the speakers, live and replays, and immediate access to comment and ask questions.. Join here.
