Why Don’t We Talk About Receiving?
We talk about serving.
We are here, on this planet, at this time, to serve.
We are here to help the planet and all living beings ascend to 5D.
Yep.
But spiritual communities have a history of “starving healers”- martyrs who struggle to care for themselves even as they care for others. A history of undervaluing their gifts to the point of fearing to charge even a fraction of their true worth.
If you’re struggling to care for yourself, how well are you serving others?
Let me define what I mean by serving others well:
Serving from a place of joy.
Of relaxation.
Of peace in your body and your space.
Of grounded, clear, pure connection- free of the human anxieties and worries that plague us all.
I know, life seeps into work sometimes. I’m talking about chronic stress. The nagging fear of never doing enough.
Let’s say you can convince me that you’re serving others well- even while you're struggling to pay the electric bill and take a much-needed day off.
If you are concerned about keeping the lights on…
If your mind constantly spins about how to afford your daughter’s school supplies…
If you give your leftovers to a homeless person, then realize that means eating peanut butter and jelly- again…
Are you serving from your highest vibration? No, you’re not.
In this 3D world, the energetic form of exchange is money- dollars, pesos, krugerrands. If you’re refusing energetic return from those you serve, you’re blocking your receiving channels.
Receiving.
According to the Cambridge Dictionary, it’s the present participle of receive, which means “to get or be given something.”
Let’s focus on being given something.
When someone gives you a birthday gift, how do you respond?
When a friend buys you coffee “just because”, what’s your first reaction?
If your gut reaction is to recoil, to feel unworthy, or to want to reciprocate immediately- you’ve got some receiving work to do.
There may be ancestral patterns, limiting beliefs, or old family stories whispering that you are not good, strong, or special enough to simply receive.
Maybe you’re okay with receiving just for being you. (You should be!)
But receiving for your skills or spiritual gifts- no way.
Maybe religion, or your lineage, taught you that charging for spiritual work is a slippery slope to temptation and damnation.
The more you suffer, the more spiritual you are.
That wealthy people are greedy and disconnected from spirit.
But look at the beliefs in those sentences!
Your gifts are a gift from the Universe, yes?
And you believe gifts shouldn’t be charged for.
Yet you also believe you’re here to serve.
And the Universe wants you to live abundantly.
So, if you’re refusing to receive from those you serve- or underpricing- you’re actually denying the Universe’s desire to bless you with abundance.
Still unsure?
Imagine your gift is massage. You’re the “low-price” practitioner.
Your rates let you treat yourself to the occasional restaurant meal. You give your leftovers to someone in need- while quietly wishing you could feed 30 others too.
Now, imagine this:
You offer a magical, transformational massage experience and charge accordingly.
Your clients are thrilled. You are, too.
You receive, fully and joyfully, for the value you provide.
Now you have the means to eat well and fund a nightly shelter for 40 unhoused souls!
You’re serving in ways you once only dreamed of.
You opened your receiving channels and changed your life, and the lives of others.
Receiving is your birthright.
But you must choose it.
Stay sovereign.
Let you, not history, write your life.
Know the value of your gift and the depth of your service.
Here’s a secret:
If your rates are too low, some people may assume your work isn’t that powerful.
If this message makes you uncomfortable- or you feel certain I am wrong- it might be time for a deep, honest look at your relationship with receiving.
Shifting this one belief can change everything.
For you.
For those you serve.
For the healers who’ve been waiting for someone- like you- to shine a new light.
