How Getting Clear Opened the Floodgates (Thanks, Universe)
The first kernel of my business started forming when I was looking for a way to serve.
I knew I had this amazing skill set; the ability to assess a business or leader, intuit their unique impact on the world, and then help them build the business and strategies to achieve that. My background in project management, systems, business development, and coaching provided traditional skills. My connection to my guides and my intuition offered the more ethereal skills.
That mindset- wanting to serve- has served me for a long time. If you had asked who I wanted to attract to the business, my answer would’ve sounded like this: “People I can serve, who need the information I share, who are ready to uplevel their business.”
At the time, I thought that sounded like a pretty rockstar mindset and attraction statement. I was owning my skills and reaching out to people who need what I have to offer.
But here’s the truth: growing your business requires clarity- so much clarity that the Universe can deliver perfect-fit clients right to your door. Clarity is the key to receiving both your expectations and your “or-betters” (the next-level result you never dared expect). Receiving is a whole other article- don’t worry, we’ll get there.
Clarity also applies to your expectations of the Universe. If I’m not clearly sharing what I want, how can the Universe come close to delivering? Yes, you must presume that you are walking your soul path- but that doesn’t mean you get to mumble your order.
You want a statement so precise that potential clients can instantly opt-in or out. Crystal clarity repels just as powerfully as it attracts- and that’s a good thing.
Here’s the thing, in my original statement, I didn’t mention anything about my spirituality. Just missing that word- spirituality- left the door wide open to clients I didn’t want to work with. Everything I do, from gardening to business strategy, is steeped in my belief in the Universe. Your spirituality belongs in your business. You can build a life and business you love with your spirituality right up front.
My mindset around attracting clients was missing the mark. So I stepped back and got clear on what I truly wanted. I did the work in the context of a launch, simply because it gave me a structured container for that level of focus.
Now, when you ask me who I want to attract, you get a much clearer- more aligned- response. Below is a comparison of the old vs. the new mindset:
This change shifted everything. The Universe started sending clients I’d never met- clients who knew instantly they wanted to work with me. There was no long, drawn-out sales process. People who had followed me for years suddenly jumped on the offer.
I had upleveled my expectations of the Universe. I got clear. The Universe responded.
And it keeps responding.
What’s important here is the shift in my language- from what others need to what I want. I want my clients to think I’m amazing (Let’s be honest, you do too.) If you’re going to hire someone, you should believe they’re perfect for you. I think my business coach is amaze-balls! I want my clients to think I’m amaze-balls!
That’s a different frequency than just being someone with useful information. Needing and wanting are two very different motivators. I might need a car (any old car will do), but I want a new Mazda CX-30 Turbo in red- and I’m willing and able to pay for it.
The difference is profound.
My challenge to you:
Uplevel your expectations of the Universe.
Do the work.
Get clear.
Declare what you want.
Then sit back and watch the magic unfold.
