Do you trust you?

I was in Arizona, in the desert, walking at the base of a mountain with my 8-pound Chihuahua mix, Felix. I knelt to give him a scratch. It was beautifully quiet, the middle of the day.

I looked up. Ten feet away stood a large coyote. I felt like I could touch her. We caught one another’s eye, looked away. Felix quietly sat on my lap- didn’t move, didn’t make a sound.

In that moment, I knew the coyote was only curious. I trusted my instinct to simply be still and be with her. She calmly turned and trotted up the trail.

What does it take for you to trust yourself?

Just you- your sovereign self.

I’m not talking about trusting your intuition or the downloads you received. I’m talking about trusting your decision-making, your ability to feel your reaction to something in your body, your ability to ground in the toughest situation, and move forward with clarity?

What happens when you put down the crutches- the oracle deck, the pendulum, your channeling bestie- anything or anyone that you give your power away to? Instead of trusting yourself.

What if the Universe stopped sending you signs? I see Maseratis when I make a ‘good’ financial decision. Hawks appear when I’m showing up as a leader.

When was the last time you created something- even something small- and then started all over again, or shifted pieces of it around? Simply because you felt it.

I recently learned that in the land of Human Design, I’m one of those folks who instinctively live in their knowing. That explained so much! I have never felt the need to rely on oracle cards, pendulums, or the other things spiritual folks love. I thought I was just a little bit broken. Turns out I was just being me. (Note: I have fun using pendulums, oracle cards, etc., and I believe they provide guidance. But they are not my automatic go to.)

My gut has always been my best friend.

More than a few times, when I have ignored my intuition (my gut), I’ve been disappointed. I took a trip to Central America, and my gut said stay home. I was convinced, for the team, we’ll give you space… Blah, blah. It was cold, rainy, I got car sick, internet connection was shit.

I would have been more content at home with the husband and the dogs.

“Always listen to your gut, Jennifer!”

Trusting myself has, on balance, always been more efficacious than relying on anyone or anything else. That’s sovereignty. Allowing no one and nothing to have control over your mind, your decisions.

Obviously, I don’t always trust myself the way I should. If I fall off the wagon, I can almost always identify a point where my gut was screaming yes or no… and I ignored it.

It even shows up in my planning. I can feel when I’m going to be pushing or when I’ll have enough time to complete something. I bet, if you’re quiet, you can feel it too.

Yes, trauma informs us, experience informs us. And still, your intuition is the key.
