I am Fierce

I am fierce; the dragon in me usually lives in a cozy, comfortable cave and only comes out when needed. Part of what makes me brilliant is knowing when to call her up, rather than waiting for her to get so annoyed with me that she flies out in a huff of fire-breather angst.  Lately, I’ve been letting her chill in her cave too much.

She is part courage, part gentle shove to get my act together, and the aspect of me that stands up to be seen. When I’m not using her my light dims and my brilliance fades, because I’m not standing in my authenticity and allowing myself to be seen. As a teenager, I had no idea how to work with my dragon. I would stand out in ways that were so challenging to people that they reacted negatively. I took that negative reaction and made it an excuse to hide.

Over the years I have learned how to work in partnership with the dragon within me, and she has served me well. This week has been a busy one for my dragon.  She popped her head out to support a client in her quest to step into a new level of leadership. That looks like no longer accepting the “one step forward, two steps back” dance the client has been doing. Committing to growth means actively taking positive steps in that direction. I can fiercely support you on this journey, but only as long as you are actively stepping forward.

I harnessed her intense, fearless, brilliantly authentic energy to apply for a speaking opportunity. I wasn’t asked to apply. The folks holding the event didn’t even know my name. What is the worst they could do? They could ignore the application or say no. Either way, okay. They not only accepted my application they squeezed me into the schedule! This is the power of standing in your brilliance and of using all of the parts of yourself to pursue your heart’s desires.

Where can you stand in your brilliance to do something positive for your business? I’m super excited to share my brilliance and provide value to a new group of people. I think I’ll take my dragon out to dinner this weekend!
